Breakout Session Call for Proposals

2017 FOR THE LOVE OF READING CONFERENCE

October 26-27, 2017 (Thursday – Friday)

Zermatt Resort
Midway, Utah

The UVU Forum on Engaged Reading will soon be accepting program proposals for breakout sessions to be presented at the 2017 For the Love of Reading conference. The UVU Forum on Engaged Reading is about sharing the best books, teaching, and innovations for changing lives as well as fostering a love of reading.  The selection committee is interested in real life examples of new and innovative ways children from K-12 are learning to love reading.

PROPOSAL

To be considered, each proposal must be submitted online by April 15, 2017 and include the following information:

  • Title
  • Speakers
  • Session format (panel, individual speaker, etc.)
  • Detailed description: (500 word max)
  • Short description (50 word max)
  • Targeted audience
  • Presentation goals
  • Presentation methods 
  • Evidence of success

SELECTION PROCESS

Proposals will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Strong fit with the UVU Forum on Engaged Reading’s mission and intended audience.
  • Appropriate and engaging methods of presentation.
  • Clarity and completeness of the proposal.
  • Content supporting topics of interest including:
    • Technology with reading/writing
    • Non-fiction or informational texts
    • Film and the connection between movies and books
    • Multicultural/diversity (including helping ESL learners or representing different cultures through reading)
    • Teachers or librarians partnering with parents
    • Making libraries a place for motivating readers
    • Teachers partnering with public librarians

PLEASE NOTE

Breakout session presenters selected for the conference will receive a reduced registration rate ($149).
